Mask Monday

I day late, but better late than never!  Busy day in the lab yesterday kept me from putting this mask up, which is a bummer because I have a lot to say about it.

I’m still trying to do damage control on my head after my stylist said I have “a dry patch”.  The mask I did last weekend really didn’t do anything so I tried another hair mask on Sunday.  This Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Mask got some decent reviews online.  I picked it for the moisture.  I’m also trying a new shampoo and conditioner right now, Pantene Micellar (you know we love our micells over here!), which I think may have played a role in how my hair felt after the mask…

First things first, I LOVE the smell of this mask.  So good.  It’s a pretty thick consistency so that was encouraging as well.  There is a good amount provided in that little package so if your hair is long, I think you will be ok.  I also loved how small the packaging was.  Perfect for travel.  I will be taking a couple in my suitcase when I go on vacation to the beach next month.  Should be good for windblown, sea salt hair.

I started out washing my hair with the micellar shampoo.  If you remember from this post, micells are good at grabbing dirt and getting rid of it.  This shampoo basically gets rid of product build up on your hair.  I thought that was probably a good start for the mask, help it actually touch the hair follicle it’s supposed to be treating, not just laying on top of product already there. After I rinsed out the shampoo, I put the entire honey mask on my hair and waited a few minutes before washing it out.

I was very pleased with how my hair felt after I dried it.  It was light and soft.  It held the style better and it just had a bounce to it I hadn’t seen in a while.  I’m not sure if it was the shampoo, the mask, or a combination of both.  I’m sure “stripping” my hair before the mask probably helped.  Not sure why I didn’t think of that before…

It’s definitely worth the couple bucks to grab one of these honey masks from Walmart.  And if you see it, grab a bottle of the micellar shampoo and conditioner and give that a try too.  Let me know what you think!
